Phumzile Mlambo Ng’uuka

Former Deputy President, South Africa

South Africa from 2005 to 2008. Before serving as Deputy President, Hon. Ng’uuka served as Youth Director of the Young Women’s Christian Association. She also served as director of TEAM, a development non-governmental organization, and the World University Services. She became a Minister of Parliament in 1994, and eventually served as deputy minister in the Department of Trade and Industry, and later Minister of Minerals and Energy. In 2005, she led the South African Development Community mission to observe Zimbabwe’s parliamentary election. Hon. Ng’uuka attained her undergraduate degree in social sciences and education from the National University of Lesotho and a master’s degree in philosophy from the University of Cape Town.
