Yasho Vardhan Pradhan

Director General, Department of Health Services, Ministry of Health and Population, Nepal

Dr. Pradhan is currently the Director General at the Department of Health Services at the Ministry of Health and Population in Nepal. Dr. Pradhan has a long and outstanding career of public health service in Nepal. He served at various zonal and district hospitals and effectively led the regional health programmes of the Central and Western Development Regions. He is also knowledgeable about the work of various other divisions at the Department of Health Service, having served as the Director of the Logistic Management Division, Family Health Division and the Child Health Division. He credits the success in reduction of child mortality and morbidity to Nepal’s expansion of health facilities across the country and the role played by the Female Community Health Volunteers. Dr. Pradhan holds a medical degree from Patrice Lumumba University in Moscow, U.S.S.R and a Master in Public Health from Mahidol University in Thailand. He has co-authored several public health publications.
