Roman Tesfay is the Director General of the Policy, Planning and Finance General Directorate. She has been working for the last 20 years in different government organizations in various capacities. She served as a director in the Resource Mobilization Directorate in the Ministry of Health, working with bilateral and multilateral international partners of the health sector to promote and coordinate the resources for the Ethiopian health sector. Roman worked as a Project & Budget senior expert, coordinator and team leader in the Planning and Economic Development Bureau of Tigray and also as a regional program coordinator for the 5th cycle UNDP country program (HRDU). She also held the post as head of the Civil Service Reform Program Office of the Federal Inland Revenue Authority and worked in the computerized MIS and organizational methods study of the Addis Ababa Water and Sewerage Authority (AAWSA). Roman holds a certificate in Health System Reform and Sustainable Financing from Harvard University (2009), MA in Organizational Leadership from Azusa Pacific University, USA, (2009); BA in Business Management from Addis Ababa University (1989/90).
Even though I have worked in Sierra Leone in the past, the role of MLI Country Lead has given me the opportunity to build upon these previous experiences and to work closely with members of the Ministry of Health and Sanitation (MOHS), to support the implementation of health policies and reforms that they have prioritized.
